Olio Capitale 2023
The 17th edition of the Olio Capitale expo competition has concluded on April the 12th, the last of the total three days.
We experienced a surge in the number of visitors to the only extra virgin olive oil fair in Italy, hosted at the Trieste Convention Center venue in the Porto Vecchio area of Trieste. The event was organized by the Chamber of Commerce Venezia Giulia through its in-house company Aries; it cooperated with the National Association of Olive Cities, co-organized by the Municipality of Trieste, and partnered with National Union of Chambers, the Mirabilia network, Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia, and the Trieste Convention and Visitors Bureau.
With over 12,000 visitors, Olio Capitale has returned to pre-pandemic numbers. “The challenge we undertook with the exhibitors and supporting institutions – according to Antonio Paoletti, President of the Chamber of Commerce Venezia Giulia – has proven successful. We are the reference point for extra virgin olive oil and intend to remain so in a promotion that spans from Italy to abroad.”
With nearly 250 exhibitors present from regions such as Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Marche, Molise, Puglia, Sardegna, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria, Veneto, and Greece, Olio Capitale 2023 has demonstrated itself as the international showcase for quality extra virgin olive oil. Tastings, samplings, and pairings of products with dishes, courses to better understand the characteristics of extra virgins, as well as challenges among bartenders for the best olive oil-based cocktail, animated the three-day trade fair and the days outside the venue, in bars and restaurants around the city. Olio Capitale now has its own side event that precedes the main event by a week, involving numerous businesses in the province of Trieste through the Fipe Trieste and the Trieste Cocktail Week.
