Advantages of real and virtual biobanks in optimizing research, diagnosis and treatment of diseases

On Friday 22 November, starting at 5 pm, the Josef Ressel Room of the Congress Centre will host the event “Advantages of real and virtual biobanks in optimizing research, diagnosis and treatment of diseases”, organized by OGS – National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics, Fondazione Italiana Fegato ONLUS, TLQS – The Laboratory on Quantitative Sustainability and FIT – Fondazione Internazionale Trieste per il Progresso e la Libertà delle Scienze.

The event will explore the many advantages of biobanks, both physical and digital, for the world of scientific and medical research; real biobanks – physical collections of biological samples such as blood, tissues or DNA – and virtual ones – which manage digital data and information from different sources – are crucial resources for researchers and doctors, allowing them to access a wide range of samples and data necessary for the study of complex diseases. Biobanks also facilitate collaboration between research institutes, hospitals and universities, promoting scientific innovation and reducing the time needed to bring new treatments from the laboratory to the patient.

A networking aperitif will follow.

Participation in the event is free, but registration is required.
