Trieste, the city of coffee
24 October 2024According to the digital platform Booking.com, Trieste is among the 10 trending global destinations for 2025; the data confirm the positive trend of both Italian and foreign visitors in recent years and the growing interest that the Julian capital is able to attract.
Contributing to the growth in visitors to the city – as emerged from the data of the Italian Observatory of Congresses and Events presented by Federcongressi&Eventi last October 15 at the Generali Convention Center Trieste – are also the congresses, which in 2023 in Trieste had an average duration of 1.53 days (against the Italian average of 1.43) and an average participation of 123.8 attendees, decidedly higher than the Italian average of 79.8 participants. According to the projections – and the direct experience of the Congress Center – the positive trend is confirmed and probably exceeded this year.
To further encourage the choice of Trieste as a destination, also for events and conferences – which contribute to raising the quality of tourism and the interest, including economic, that the sector represents for the territory – it is necessary to take into account the tourism trends for the next year; among these, the analyses carried out by Booking include:
- attention to well-being, i.e. the presence in the area of wellness centers, spas and infrastructures dedicated to fitness and relaxation and the accessibility of natural spaces
- opportunities for night tourism, such as stargazing treks
- the availability of technology and artificial intelligence tools, useful for personalising the tourist experience.
Trieste is favoured, thanks to the presence in its immediate surroundings of a varied nature, from the sea to the Karst hinterland; there is no lack of technological infrastructures and the presence of a prestigious scientific ecosystem. If we add to this the geographical proximity to Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, we have the conditions to further expand the catchment area of visitors, not only purely tourist, but also as participants in international conferences and congresses.
