Construction work has begun on the monumental avenue of Porto Vecchio of Trieste: ongoing redevelopment to transform the historic area
17 July 2023Barcola, the popular beach spot for Trieste locals, has undergone a makeover for the summer.
The initial changes are being implemented by the new tenants of bars and shops, who are making modifications to the traditional layout of the area. At the end of May 2023, furthermore, the third phase of the construction works along the promenade, specifically around the “topolini” area, was completed. These works, including both regular and extraordinary interventions, have given a new look, particularly to the flower beds.
To address issues related to traffic and the influx of bathers and tourists during the summer, the Municipality will issue provisions to ensure parking spaces reserved for residents. Furthermore, starting from June 1st, the bus lines 6 and 36 operated by Trieste Trasporti have increased the frequency of their services, making the area more accessible by public transportation.
In the near future, minivans and campers will find space in the new “Bovedo” parking area, which can accommodate 500 vehicles. This project is financed with 530,000 euros. Completing the overall renovation plans will be the restoration of the concrete railing that borders the Old Port, as well as the refurbishment of the iron railing, with a municipal funding of 160,000 euros, pending approval from the Superintendence.
